seven deadly sins book tag

Hi,

I’ve made a post! *loud gasps from everyone*

yes, I haven’t posted anything in a very long time. For some reason, I am writing this post even though I have a maths exam tomorrow. Yeah, I know what my priorities are.

I was tagged by the wonderful Yasmin from Poetry Nerds Unite. You should all go check out their post

so let’s get into the tag!

Greed: What is your most inexpensive book? What is your most expensive book?

Read My Lips by Jana Novotny Hunter, Looking for X by Deborah Ellis and Snake and Lizard by Joy Cowley and Gavin Bishop are my most inexpensive books. I got all three of them at a school book sale, each book was 30 cents each.

My most expensive books are The Host by Stephanie Meyer and City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. I ordered them from Amazon and in the end, they ended up costing $90 NZD, this is kinda because of shipping.

Wrath: What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

J. I. Rowling. Now I love Harry Potter I just don’t like the ending of The Deathly Hallows for a few reasons;

1. why did she have Ginny and Harry get married and have kids. it doesn’t feel right!

2. why did Harry name his kids after Snape and Dumbledore? They both treated Harry poorly! I just don’t get it

Gluttony: What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, I reread this book over ten times in a year when I was ten years old. My primary school teacher told me that I should start reading something else.

Sloth: What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?

Prodigy by Marie Lu. I have no idea why I stopped reading this book because I was really enjoying it.

Pride: What book do you talk about in order to sound like an intelligent reader?

Shakespeare, or any of the books I’ve read for school. I have a shelf on Goodreads with all the books I’ve read for school if you’d like to check it out. The way I sound in my essays is very different to how I sound in real life.

Lust: What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters?

I love characters who are emotionally complex. I love characters who are intelligent. I love characters who put their family and loved ones first. I love characters who stand up for what they believe in.

Envy: What book would you like to receive as a gift?

The Harry Potter illustrated editions. I don’t own these yet but they’re beautiful and I really want them on my shelf.

That was the seven deadly sins tag!

I’m going to tag:

Jess from JBelkBooks

Nikki and Amy from A Bookworms Perfect Apple

Ola from Ola Reads Books

Morgan from Happily Ever Bookish

and you, because you’re worth it 😉

Beauty and the Beast book tag

Hi!

I haven’t done a tag that I was actually tagged in for a while, mostly because I keep forgetting to do the ones I am tagged in and because I don’t know what to answer for some of the questions, I’m sorry for that. I was tagged by Yasmin from Poetry Nerds Unite (yes, we have the same name which is pretty cool, don’t you think?) thank you so much for doing that!

This tag was created by Lena from BookFandom1001.

Rules
1)Tag at least four people.
2)Thank the creator.
3)Make sure you answer honestly

Belle: someone who is willing to sacrifice themselves for someone they love?

Aristotle, in the book we see that he is willing to do a lot for someone who he cares about. Honestly, I can see him sacrificing himself for someone he loves.

book/series: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

Beast: A good character development?

Many of you will probably argue with me on this, but I believe Draco’s character changed a lot, especially near the end of the series. At the beginning of the series, I could have seen eleven/twelve-year-old Draco turn Harry in at Malfoy Manor, but he doesn’t, he understands what Harry’s death would mean for hundreds of witches and wizards and understands that what Voldemort was doing was wrong. In The Cursed Child (I don’t like to count it as a Harry Potter book but I guess we have to) Draco opens up and we find out a lot more about his wife and his childhood, “… And being alone — that’s so hard. I was alone. And it sent me to a truly dark place. For a long time. Tom Riddle was also a lonely child. You may not understand that, Harry, but I do …”

I am planning to do a post on Harry Potter, possibly a couple of posts, just because I’m currently re-reading the series and I have a lot of thoughts I want to share.

book/series: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Lumiere: A character that gives good relationship advice?

I’m not sure if this question is about a character that has given good relationship advice to another character or a character that has said things that you take as good relationship advice, but I’m going to go with the latter.

Throughout the book we see Laurel writing and she has so many beautiful amd impactful lines.

“When we are in love, we are both completely in danger and completely saved.”

book/series: Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaria

Cogsworth: A loyal character (a person you can trust)?

I couldn’t pick between the two of them, so I chose both. Safiya and Iseult, honestly I would trust these girls with my life.

book/series: The Witchlands by Susan Dennard

Mrs Potts: A mothering character (a character that you would want as a mum)?

there are so many characters I would love to have as a mum, even though my own mum is amazing, but Hermione Granger is definitely a mothering character. She will do anything for her friends, she always wants what is best for them. Remember in the Philosophers Stone when she made study timetables for Harry and Ron!

book/series: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Gaston: A character you hate that everybody else loves?

Severus Snape… I hate him so much. I don’t understand how anyone can forgive him for being such an ass the entire series, for bullying his own students to the point where he was their greatest fear. Like I said above for Draco I will be making a post all about why I dislike Snape so much.

book/series: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

The Enchantress: A person who put a curse on someone?

I don’t know if this question is referring to a metaphorical curse or an actual curse. Either way, I have no idea what my answer is for this question, sorry.

so that was the beauty and the beast tag!

I’m going to tag:

Jess from JBelkBooks

Nikki and Amy from A Bookworms Perfect Apple

Ola from Ola Reads Books

Morgan from Happily Ever Bookish

The Bookish Alpabet Tag

Hi!

I saw this tag on Cristina from My Tiny Obsessions blog and thought it would be a fun way to promote books that I loved that aren’t really talked about, a few of these books are well known just because I couldn’t find a less known book for that letter.

Sadly there were a few letters that I couldn’t find a book for, but most of them I could!

the title for each book will send you to my review or the Goodreads page for that book.

the candy book tag

Hi,

I’m not a huge candy person, I like biscuits (gingerbread is great oh my goodness) but for some reason, I’ve never really been a “sweet tooth”

Samantha from Bookish Serendipity created this tag! and I was tagged by Michelle from Book Adventures (thank you so much for doing that Michelle ❤ )

so, this is the candy book tag!

apples – ah. healthy food. it is deep, meaningful, and probably won a lot of awards but, um, it really isn’t your thing.

I can think of a few books that are super hyped that I’m probably never going to read. I don’t think I’ll ever read a classic, just because they’re not my cup of tea coffee. so I can’t really pick a specific book for this question.

milk chocolate – this is a book you’d recommend to absolutely EVERYONE.

there are so many books I love and think you should all read! seriously one of my favourite books is More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera, I have a spoiler free review on my blog if you’d like to know why I love this book so much

19542841

black jellybeans – why do these exist??

Firstlife by Gena Showalter, I didn’t enjoy this book at all. I just didn’t get the world in the book.

25785357

chocolate kisses – awww this novel had the best romance.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell has one of the most beautiful romances in the entire world. I don’t usually cry during books/movies/tv shows but I cried reading Eleanor and Park so if that doesn’t tell you how amazing this book is, I don’t know what will

15745753

gummy spiders – eek! you made sure to check under your bed every night for a week after reading this scary one.

I didn’t find Mara Dyer super scary, but it did creep me out a bit. I don’t read a lot of scary books so it was kind of hard for me to find a book that fit this question.

11408650

jumbo lollipop – this took you forever to get through, but hey! you did it!

I don’t know if this has to be a book I enjoyed, but the only book I can think of, that I took me about a month to finish, is The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

20578940

cotton candy – admit it, you loved this when you were younger (you probably still do). think children’s or mg fiction.

When I was younger I loved reading the Charlie and Lola books by Lauren Child, such as Clarice Bean.

Well I am considered a child… so no

DO YOU OWN A GUN?

No, I’m fifteen and live in New Zealand.

WHAT FLAVOR OF KOOL AID WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

Not really, depends on what kind of appointment it is.

Sabrina, my mum originally wanted to call me Sabrina but her best friend, Sabrina, (my Godmother) wouldn’t let her

  1. I want something sweet
  2. PROJECT RUNWAY
  3. I’m sleepy

External exams

CURRENT HATE RIGHT NOW?

The weather, it’s getting warmer. I like the cold.

HOW DID YOU BRING IN THE NEW YEAR?

This was almost a year ago… but I was with family friends.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO?

Not sure if this question is asking about my travel plans or where I want to go in my city. But I want to go traveling outside NZ.

NAME THREE PEOPLE WHO WILL COMPLETE THIS?

Can I say Jess? you know because she tagged me in this. But other than Jess, I guess I tag Nikki and Amy, Ola and Megan

I’m the most unsporty person you’ll ever meet, but I like watching the Paralympics because I feel like no one (especially in NZ, other than this year) talks about it. I find it so inspiring and heart warming to see these people compete and sometimes win. You can tell these people really enjoy what they’re doing, and that they (in my opinion) care if they come first or last place, they all seem to really enjoy getting to represent not only their country but show that just because they have a disability doesn’t mean they aren’t any less capable.

So that was the random questions about me tag.

POKEMON GO BOOK TAG

Hey,

I saw this tag on Fadwa from Word Wonders blog and thought it’d be a fun tag to do since I am so obsessed with this game! Well I say I’m obsessed but I don’t often actually go outside to play this game, because I don’t want to walk around on my own.

This tag was created by Aentee from Read At Midnight

So let’s get into the tag!

Pokemon-Tag-01Starters

This is such an obvious answer for me, but also kind of confusing one. I would say Harry Potter because it was what got me into reading, BUT the book that started my love for reading (things other than Harry Potter) is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Pokemon-Tag02Pikachu

For this one my answer is more clear, because it’s always going to be Harry Potter. Harry Potter will always hold a special place in my heart, the series just brings back so many good memories.

Pokemon-Tag-03-Zubat

A lot of contemporary novels came to mind when I first saw this question, but also a few high fantasy novels. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, I see this book so often and I have never picked it up and I don’t think I ever will.

Pokemon-Tag-04-Ditto

Any book with a love triangle in it will sadly remind me of other books with love triangles in them. I really don’t like love triangles, but The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare has a beautiful love triangle in it, so the fact that the love triangle is so well written makes it hard to compare to other love triangles. However whenever I read a book with a love triangle in it, I always think ‘Cassandra Clare would’ve made this love triangle so much less annoying’

Pokemon-Tag-05-Snorlax

For this it’s kind the last book in a lot of series, for example, Winter by Marissa Meyer, but also big books at the start of a new series and quite intimidating, for example, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (yes I’m ashamed that I haven’t read it yet but I’m really busy and I don’t want to read it little bit by little bit, I want to sit down and enjoy the entire novel)

Pokemon-Tag06-Gengar

I don’t usually pull an all nighter when it comes to anything, I need to have a good amount of sleep each night otherwise I am seriously not functional the next day. However my only exception to this is Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.

Pokemon-Tag07-NidokingQueen

I have so many OTPs it’s really hard to pick a favourite, but Clace (Clary and Jace) from The Mortal Instruments as well as Eleanor and are the first couple that come to mind.Pokemon-Tag08-Rapidash

For this one I have to go with The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. This series was so fast paced, it kept me one my toes and I seriously flew through this series.

Pokemon-Tag09-Eevee

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare, this series has two spin offs, two novellas, and has more spin offs to be released. This series is one of my favourite series of all time and I will never get sick of seeing spin offs of this series.

Pokemon-Tag14-Magikarp

For this I chose Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld, the only reason why I picked up this book was because at the school library I has going to take out Uglies by Scott Westerfeld but someone else had already taken it. At first I didn’t think I was going to like this book but I actually really enjoyed it.

Pokemon-Tag12-Legendary

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, I don’t think I’ve seen so many different reviews for the same book in my life before! I’m so excited to read this book, I can’t wait for it to arrive.Pokemon-Tag15Mew-MewTwo

There are so many really pretty collector’s editions of all my favourite series that I really want, but it wasn’t until I saw Fadwa’s Pokemon Go Book Tag that I realised I need the Glow In The Dark Harry Potter books. You obviously cannot buy them but it would be cool to own these. Pokemon-Tag10-Egg

This question I found really hard to answer as there are quite a few debut novels that have already been released this year that I really want to read. However white looking through Goodreads recently I came across a book called A List of Cages by Robin Roe and it seems like such a good book that I really want to pick up once it’s released.

Pokemon-Tag11-Lure-Module

If the answer to this question wasn’t obvious by all my previous answers, my auto-buy authors are Cassandra Clare and J.K. Rowling.

Pokemon-Tag13-Server-Down

The bind up of Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. The first novella in this bind up came out in February 2015 and the bind up is expected to be published in November, I know this isn’t a long time and I could totally read the ebooks, but I don’t want to read the ebooks.

So that’s the Pokemon Go tag!

THE READER PROBLEMS TAG

Hey,

I saw this tag on Jess from jbelkbooks blog and thought it looked really cool. I’d like to say I was tagged by Jess but technically I wasn’t, but was… if that makes any sense. Jess did the tag and replied to my comment on the post, “Feel free to post this tag yourself for I would love to read your responses!” so I’m going to take that as her tagging me. That was a basically a long way of saying, ‘I saw this post on Jess’s blog.’

Anyway, now that I’ve explained that lets get into the tag

You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I know I should read what’s at the bottom of my TBR, but I just read what I am in the mood to read or whatever arrives first from the library.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or commit?

Before I would’ve said quit, but last year my goal was to not put down a novel if I was part way through it and I completed my goal and I still haven’t quit on a book so far.

The end of the year is coming and you’re so close yet so far away on your GoodReads challenge. Do you quit or commit?

Depends on what you mean by close. If there is one week left in the year and I’m one or two books away then commit, but if I’m five or six books away I’ll just read as much as I can. I don’t like to rush reading as it makes it feel more like a chore than a hobby.

The covers of a series you love DO. NOT. MATCH. How do you cope?

I don’t buy books unless the covers match. But if I’ve been gifted a book and it doesn’t match the rest of the books that I own in that series, I’ll probably buy another copy of it (when the book is on special or I have a gift card or something like that)

Everyone and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

People on the internet, but mostly if I don’t like something I’ll say it to anyone. Honestly I just bond with anyone.

You’re reading a book and you’re about start crying in public. How do you deal?

I don’t. I usually don’t read in public because of things like this, you know if something cute happens I might make a weird squealing noise or if something shocking happens I gasp really loudly. I already embarrass myself a lot so I tend not to read in public.

A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a summary on GoodReads? Cry in frustration?
I cry in frustration. Honestly I tend to marathon a series so things like this don’t happen, however if I don’t remember a lot, I usually start to read the sequel anyway and I tend to remember things while reading it.

You don’t want ANYONE borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people “nope” when they ask?

I just say no. I only let people borrow my books if I trust them and even if I trust them I tell them that if my book gets damaged they must buy me a brand new one. Do I sound mean? I hope I don’t

You’ve picked up and put down five different books in the past month. How do you get over the reading slump?

Contemporary books. Or something completely random that I’ve wanted to read for a while.

There are so many new books coming out that you are dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

A lot, I wish. I don’t actually buy a lot of books as I don’t get a lot of money and I put a lot of my money into savings.

After you’ve bought a new book you want to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf until you actually read them?

I’d like to say not long but I have books that I brought a year ago that I still haven’t read.

So that was the Reader Problems tag

I’m going to tag:

Michelle from Book Adventures

Jorelene from Page Chronicles

Reg from She Latitude

and anyone else who wants to do this tag (if you do leave a comment saying that you did or tag me in your post saying that you saw it on my blog)

Thank you so much for reading
