SUMMER BIANNUAL BIBLIOTHON 2016 TBR

Hey,

This winter, well summer for everyone who lives in the northern hemisphere, from the 3rd to the 9th of July I will be participating in the 2016 Summer Biannual Bibliothon. I’ve participated in this read-a-thon for a while now, it has always been a really fun week. I’ve participated in the Winter Biannual Bibliothon this year as well and I have my TBR and wrap up for that read-a-thon on my blog if you’d like to go check them out.

If you don’t know what the Biannual Bibliothon is I have a brief explanation of the read-a-thon just so you can understand what the read-a-thon is all about.

The Biannual Bibliothon is a week-long read-a-thon hosted twice a year by the youtubers; MissSassyKassie, emmmabooks, Little Red Reader, Kellys BookSpill, OHxXxSNAP13, sierrareads, and Brittni’s BookFind. This time there are two guest hosts The Booktube Girl and Meagan Precourt

Throughout the read-a-thon, there will be 7 reading challenges we all aim to complete, as well as 7 daily video challenges where you can win a giveaway. The day following the end of the Biannual Bibliothon, they will be hosting a live show for the group chosen book for all participants of the read-a-thon.

So now that I’ve explained what the Biannual-Bibliothon is and who is hosting it lets get into my TBR.

The Unexpected Everything

17838528

Author: Morgan Matson

Genre: Contemporary

Number of Pages: 519

Release Date: May 3rd 2016

Synopsis: “Andie had it all planned out.

When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future.

Important internship? Check.

Amazing friends? Check.

Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks).

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life.

Because here’s the thing—if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected.

And where’s the fun in that?”

Completes the Challenge(s): Read The Group Book & Read a Book from an Author You’ve Never Read Before

I’ve always loved the idea of having a group book for a read-a-thon, I think it really brings together readers during the week, which I think is a really unique thing that this read-a-thon does.

I have never read anything by Morgan Matson before, but I have heard so many positive things about her novel Since You’ve Been Gone. So I’m really excited to read this book during the read-a-th0n.

10929432The Archived

Author: Victoria Schwab

Genre: Fantasy/Paranormal

Number of Pages: 328

Release Date: January 22nd 2013

Synopsis: “Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was: a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn’t just dangerous—it’s a constant reminder of those Mac has lost, Da’s death was hard enough, but now that her little brother is gone too, Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself may crumble and fall.”

Completes the Challenge(s): Read a Book Off of the Host’s List of Recommendations & Read a Book You’ve Been Putting Off Picking Up

There were seven books I could’ve chosen to complete the reading challenge Read a Book Off of the Host’s List of Recommendations. These books are;

  • Momo’s Choice – The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason
  • Selena’s Choice – Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
  • Kelly’s Choice – Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
  • Red’s Choice – Sorta Like a Rockstar by Matthew Quick
  • Emma’s Choice – More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
  • Meagan’s Choice – The Archived by Victoria Schwab
  • Kassie’s Choice – Abarat by Clive Barker

One of these books, More Happy Than Not, I’ve already reading this year which funnily enough I read to complete one of my monthly reading challenges.

I have been wanting to read The Archived for a while now and I finally have something that’ll make me read it. If that makes any sense. I swear everyone has a book they want to read but have to be forced to actually read it… or is that just me? I love read-a-thons because I know I will be ‘forced’ to read books that I’ve been putting off but also books I will really enjoy.

A Darker Shade final for IreneA Darker Shade of Magic

Author: V.E. Schwab

Genre: Fantasy

Number of Pages: 400

Release Date: February 24th 2015

Synopsis: “Kell is one of the last Antari, a rare magician who can travel between parallel worlds: hopping from Grey London — dirty, boring, lacking magic, and ruled by mad King George — to Red London — where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire — to White London — ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne, where people fight to control magic, and the magic fights back — and back, but never Black London, because traveling to Black London is forbidden and no one speaks of it now.

Officially, Kell is the personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between the royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see, and it is this dangerous hobby that sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to take her with him for her proper adventure.

But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save both his London and the others, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive — a feat trickier than they hoped.”

Completes the Challenge(s): Read a Book With Your Favorite Mythical Creature & Read a Book from an Author You’ve Never Read Before

I love books with wizards, witches, warlocks, magicians etceterra, they’re one of my favourite mythical creatures. I’ve been wanting to read A Darker Shade of Magic for a while now and it fits perfectly with two of the reading challenges for this read-a-thon.

I’ve also never read a book by V.E. (Victoria) Schwab before and I’ve only heard positive things about her work so I think it’ll be quite nice to read one of her novels for this read-a-thon.

19351043Nimona

Author: Noelle Stevenson

Completes the Challenge(s): Read a Book in a Different Format than You Usually Read

I remember hearing about this book last year but for some unknown reason I decided not to pick it up, I think this was mostly because it was a graphic novel and I’m not a huge fan of them. But as one of the reading challenges for this read-a-thon is to read a book in a different format than I usually do I decided to finally give this book a try because I may actually really enjoy this graphic novel.

13414446Prodigy

Author: Marie Lu
Pages: 371
Published: January 29th 2013
Genre: Science Fiction/Dystopia
link to synopsis as this is a sequel and I don’t want to spoil anyone

Completes the Challenge(s): Free Choice/ Wild Card Book

The main reason why I picked this book to be my free choice/wild card book is because I started reading this book at the end of last year but never got around to finishing it. I honestly really enjoyed Legend but for some reason I put down Prodigy and haven’t picked it up since.

I really hope to finish this book this book because I know that I’n going to enjoy it.

  1. Oooh, great selections!! I really hope these are great reads for you, for I’ve heard really good things about Lu’s, Matson’s, & Schwab’s! I’ve read Nimona and I really loved it, so I hope you do too! As for The Archives, this is actually the first time I’ve seen that novel, so I’m pretty sure after this I’m gonna check it out on Goodreads. Good luck!! 😀
